The Outer Banks is a favorite destination for many when planning a wedding.  There are several great venues and not to mention the beach itself, which can accomodate both large and small groups.  I recently got married  and had the opportunity to have my wedding at the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island.  This may not be the first location on many people's list, but believe it or not, they hold events there all the time and it is quite popular for weddings.  They have a really nice soundside park area as well as many large rooms inside the building that are perfect for the ceremony and reception. 

We chose to have our ceremony outside by the sound and our reception inside by the shark tanks.  All of our guests had full use of the facility and it made less boring by having the exhibits to keep them occupied.  The main lobby area has high ceilings and a large water feature that adds a nice backdrop for dancing or just hanging out.  We had a total of about 115 people and our food was provided by Coastal Provisions Market.  Everything turned out as it was planned and it is a relief to have it behind us.  I would highly suggest considering the aquarium for your wedding or next event.
