Tips for Beach Wedding Dresses
Did anyone see clips of the famous annual Filene’s Basement “Running of the Brides” last week? What a scene… all those excited brides falling over each other, rushing through racks of dresses for their perfect designer gown at a fraction of its retail price.
For your casual OBX beach wedding you may want to consider going with a dress that is slightly shorter than a traditional full-length dress. Or you may even go for a cocktail length, just be careful not to go so short that you'll end up worrying about the wind giving your guests a different kind of show than intended! Avoid materials like silk and satin which don't do well in humidity and could ruin that smooth and sleek silhouette most brides want to achieve. Flowy, featherweight fabrics like tulle, organza, chiffon and linen tend to hold up better for on the beach. And for your feet... nothing says laid-back, relaxed style more than going barefoot. You could also do a pair of low-heeled sandals, cute flip flops or even simple ballet flats. Whatever you choose, just remember to keep how you're dressing your feet in mind when having your gown altered. I say go barefoot – what could be better than that innocent yet sensual feeling of your toes in the sand to help the moment feel more fun and romantic?!
