Be Inspired This Earth Day -- Going Green is Creative, Fun and Can Save You Money!

Today is Earth Day!  A good day to think about how we can make little changes in our everyday lives to help the environment. How's your carbon footprint?  Incorporating eco-friendly elements in your wedding is not just an earth-conscious and responsible choice - it's also fun, creative and can even save you money!  There are so many outlets on the web to help you go green. From great DIY tree-free invitation kits to lots of too-cute place cards your guests can actually plant!

I love the favor options for a beach wedding at LittleThingsFavors.com like the natural miniature woven beach bags and the coconut shell soy candles. The site also makes a great green point in number six in their list of Ten Ways to Have an Eco-Friendly Wedding ... "Hire Classical Musicians – electricity can drain the environment too. Consider hiring a pianist, harpist, or other musicians which can play without the use of electric power."  Can't you just hear beautiful violins or an acoustic guitar in the background of your upcoming OBX oceanfront or soundfront wedding?!  Click here for a list of local Outer Banks musicians.

Check out the I Do Foundation.org site for charitable donations as your wedding favors. This may be the ultimate green favor idea!  Here's one favor I personally think the world of... the Gifts from the Heart  offered by Trees for Life International whose mission is "to create hope through a movement in which people join hands to break the cycle of poverty and hunger and care for our earth."

For some of the top eco-friendly wedding registry sites visit Brides.com.  I also stumbled on a cool site RegisterLocally.com which seems like a great guide for green wedding gift/registry items.

Happy Earth Day!

Until Next Time,
Your OBX Wedding Blogger
