Mother's Day Surprise - Plan for Some 'You and Mom' Time During Your Wedding Week

Mother's Day is just a couple of days away.  Have you planned something special for just the two of you during your Outer Banks destination wedding week?  Mom may find herself nearly as stressed out as you leading up to the wedding day, but she probably won't show it (for your sake).  Finding something you can enjoy together to get your mind off of the last-minute details (and drama) will be a wonderful moment to look back on for you both.  Whatever kind of fun suits you and Mom best - a laid back outing or an all-out OBX excursion - why not set something up in advance as a surprise for Mother's Day?  (Added bonus:  budget savings which Mom always appreciates, right?!)

You could book a 1/2 day at a local spa or hire a masseuse to come to your rental home. What a relaxing way to enjoy some quality time together!  You could sign up for a wine tasting event at Native Vine in Nags Head, head north to the Whalehead Club in Corolla for a tour of that beautifully restored historic home, or make a day of it and head south via ferry to Ocracoke Island to hunt for local art and pottery treasures.  Maybe keeping it really simple is key for Mom... You could plan to simply slip away from the crowd for a nice lunch somewhere overlooking the water, then take her to a great local boutique like The French Door in Nags Head or Diamonds n' Dunes in Kitty Hawk and let her pick out a special new bead for her Trollbead or Pandora bracelet.  For the more adventurous mother-daughter pairs out there... Why not book a dolphin tour, hang gliding lesson, or a kayak eco-tour? Maybe go tandem parasailing, on a 4x4 off-road adventure to view the wild horses, or a hike through Nags Head Woods Preserve?

It may seem nutty to add another 'event' to your already tight wedding week schedule, but carving out that bonding time for you and Mom during your big week on the Outer Banks is something you will both cherish.

Until Next Time,
