OBX Wedding Travel, Transportation Info & Links for Guests to Plan Things to Do While Here

So how are those travel & transportation details coming along for your Outer Banks destination wedding?...

For family and guests flying in you probably already know that the closest airport is Norfolk International (ORF), but did you also know that Newport News International Airport (PHF) is just another half hour or so north on the peninsula side of Hampton Roads, VA (just off Hwy 64)?  In these economic times - when many of us have more time to spare than money - it's not a bad idea to comparison shop for airfares.  I've driven past ORF on more than one occasion in the past in order to save several hundred dollars on a flight out of PHF.

For information on charter flights, shuttles, car rentals and taxicab services, click here.  Keep in mind that there is no public transportation along the Outer Banks.

For anyone using the NCDOT ferry system to get to the Outer Banks, click here for schedules and locations of all the North Carolina ferries

There's a great variety of options on the island for limos and transportation services for your OBX wedding.  From a stretch Escalade or 4WD Suburban for small groups to 15 passenger shuttles or 30+ passenger luxury tour buses, you're likely to find a local service that will suit your needs.  Click here for a list of Outer Banks Wedding Association Limo & Transportation members.

Finally, if you'd like to forward some web links to your guests to help them get a feel for the area and plan things to do while they're here, these are some great sites to pass along:
  • For the Nags Head to Corolla areas along the Outer Banks, click here
  • For the Ocracoke/Hyde County area to the south, click here
  • Don't forget North Carolina's Inner Banks (IBX) ... you'll be pleasantly surprised by the variety of activities IBX has to offer!  From the quaint waterside town of Columbia with historic homes and art museums to the surrounding nature preserves that call to hiking, biking, boating, kayaking and camping enthusiasts as well as wildlife lovers.  Click here to learn more.

Until Next Time,
Your OBX Wedding Blogger
