Jokes, Toasts and Speech Ideas for Your Outer Banks Wedding
Whatever your political leanings, Bill Maher's "New Rules" segment at the end of his HBO show is a crack-up. I look forward to each installment just like I do Letterman's Top 10 and E!'s Talk Soup. Guilty pleasure? Maybe. But it's good sometimes to lighten up from the all-too-often uber-pc can't-take-a-joke environment we live in and just laugh at ourselves, and others, right?
So who out there has a silly story or joke to share from an Outer Banks wedding? C'mon, I know you're out there! I can share one: Years ago I attended a beautiful OBX wedding at the Ark Church in Nags Head where the pastor seemed nervous for whatever reason. He flubbed a rather famous line near the end - poor guy - and actually said "...what God has brought together, let no man celebrate." [roll the crickets chirping for effect] D'oh!
While we wait for the wave of comment posts to swell on the horizon
... this site of wedding jokes, stories, toast ideas and more could help to kick-start any writer's block happening for the lucky ones out there with toasting duties on the big day! Okay, okay, so maybe these will only make it as far as a print out for the groomsmen to chuckle over during a game of pool at the rental house.
Smirks or smiles, enjoy a quick read through this list that treads from the high-brow...
Keep your eyes wide open before the wedding, half shut afterwords. (Benjamin Franklin)
By all means marry; if you get a good wife, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become
a philosopher. (Socrates)
to the not-so-much...
I think men who have a pierced ear are better prepared for marriage. They've experienced pain
and bought jewelery. (Rita Rudner)
I haven't spoken to my wife in 18 months - I don't like to interrupt her.

There are lots of sites on the web you can google for inspiration. Here's another one I like because of its equal opportunity approach - a whole section for jokes the ladies can trump those best man speeches with!
Until Next Time,
